Product Description

CD Description
Marking the end of a decade of non-activity, Whitesnake's 'Good To Be Bad' is their 11th studio album. It's a typicallyhard-rocking affair, with band leader David Coverdale delivering unashamedly masculine glam-metal anthems that will delight die-hard fans. As the only original member Coverdale essentially is Whitesnake, but replacement guitarist Doug Aldrich acts as a songwriting collaborator for many of the recordings here. Co-produced by Coverdale, Aldrich and long-time friend of the band Michael McIntyre, 'Good To Be Bad' is exactly what one would expect as a continuation of the Whitesnake legacy, and all the better for it.

From the Artist
The new album sounds so unmistakably, typically Whitesnake says David Coverdale: "For me, the heart and soul of Whitesnake remains the same."

It's no surprise that Good To Be Bad has turned into more than a terrific album, but is without doubt one of the best releases in this band's long history. "For me, it has all the elements, all the ingredients that I enjoy about Whitesnake", says Coverdale. "It's a very solid, muscular, melodic rock record with a couple of fine ballads, so there's a little tenderness when the moment calls for it, and of course the ballads help balance out the chest beaters! I find it a very complete piece of work, actually. It covers a lot of musical ground, a positive chapter in the Book of Whitesnake."

5.0 out of 5 stars Here we go again..., 18 Mar 2008
By A. Taylor (Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As has been said in other reviews, this is much more of a grower than the late 80s Whitesnake albums that most people are familiar with, but it has real heart and soul and couldn't be from any other band...or singer. And that voice is still as intact and thoroughly amazing as ever. If anything, it gets better as the years pass by. Coverdale has always surrounded himself with the very best musicians and this album is no different. In Doug Aldrich, he has found the same magic he briefly had with John Sykes, and Reb Beach manages to bring the flashiness of Vai without the cheesyness that ruined Slip Of The Tongue. This album is more about the heavy riffs than anything previously and needs to be turned up VERY loud to best appreciated, trust me. The opening of "Can You Hear The Wind Blow" and "Got What You Need" are simply crushing and put most modern metal bands to shame. Think "Still Of The Night" and "Bad Boys" and you're not a million miles away. The ballads aren't forgotten about either but there's no "Is This Love" substitute on here. "All I Want All I Need" and "Summer Rain" remind me far more of Coverdale's superb and underrated "Into The Light" solo album with "Til The End Of Time" and "A Fool In Love" being much more reminiscent of the equally brilliant Coverdale/Page project, the former also being the emotional pinnacle of the album and will leave you realising just why Whitesnake fans remain so loyal to DC despite some questionable decisions 20 years ago! As for the blues rock of old. Well, it's in there. Despite the heavy nature of the playing, this album probably owes more to the classic Whitesnake than it does the commercial years. It's just that everything has been overhauled and brought bang up to date. If this is the last Whitesnake album then DC is leaving everyone with an album to be proud of. But once you sample it's joys, you'll want to join me in praying for more of this!!! It's just a shame you can only award 5 stars...this deserves more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Genius!!, 1 May 2008
By A. Hughes (Glasgow, Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The wait has been far too long but with as tight a unit as coverdale has gathered in such a long time this record will not fail to please any snake followers. I've been a snake fan all my life and after being disappointed seeing them at Edinburgh Playhouse in the late eighties I thought they were majestic at the Carling Academy in Glasgow in 2006. With Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach hammering out the strings you just know you are in for a treat and Chris Frazier is a more than able replacement for Tommy Aldridge. The thing I like about this album is the fact that it doesn't pretend to be something it's not! This is a no holds barred, balls to the wind, unashamed Melodic hard rock album that MUST BE PLAYED LOUD AND PROUD!! Welcome back to your best guys - Keep Rockin'

5.0 out of 5 stars Believe the Hype!, 27 Mar 2008
By Old Timer (Dundee) - See all my reviews
I have played this album a dozen or so times now and it really is an absolute cracker. Many "veteran" rock bands these days sound tired and uninspired when it comes to releasing new material. This recording is the complete opposite- WS sound fresh & hungry. A wonderful album!
