Fantastically Funny!! 31 Jan 2002
Format:Paperback
Henry and Frances live on the beautiful island of St Maartin in the Caribbean. They are laid back and in love as professional assasins go, and are headed for trouble in paradise.

When Henry is paid to carry out a hit on Mafia Boss, Charles "Charlie Wagons" Iannello, by one of his croonies, Henry agrees. When the hit doesn't quite go to plan Henry is in for a big surprise when one year later his tropical hideaway is under siege by an ill tempered Irish Man, a transvestite gangster, numerous US Marshalls and the man he was supposed to hit in the first place.....

Best read on a sizzling beach holiday, extrememly well written and thouroughly enjoyable. As the author himself urges you to do when you get bored, "...have another beer, take a dip...have sex...read another chapter. And please. Get sand between the pages".

Mr. Bourdain's story of amoral assasins, retired mafiosi and hedonism in the Carribean is a joy to read. Written with the same ear for dialogue and eye for local detail that distinguished Bone in the Throat, Gone Bamboo evokes Bourdain's love of the sensual and the sleazy. The book, like the unpasteurised cheeses that Mr. Bourdain rightly champions, might not appeal to the squeamish, but then such people don't really understand how to enjoy themselves anyway.

By Michael Ambjorn VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Anthony Bourdain - of Kitchen Confidential fame - has made another good attempt at writing pulp fiction (he started with Bone in the throat), and like any well labeled tin of beans, it has exactly what it says on the tin. Mafiosos, hitmen, French government agents, exotic settings and a lacing of food and spirits to keep with the author's background.

Serve with a chilled daiquiri on a tropical beach. Will not cause brain brain constipation or any other discomfort. In fact, will pass right through.
