It was during a brief stop-over in Mongolia that he became struck by two things: he loved the country, but most of all he missed playing golf. A plan began to hatch in his mind...
Devising his own course and starting from the first tee in Choybalsan, he swung his way through to the eighteenth hole at Dund-Us. Along the way he was forced to deal with disappearing tents, bemused locals and the persistent problem of finding his ball. The round took him 90 days and 12,170 shots to cover a total distance of 1,234 miles - or 2,171,505 yards. In his heroic endeavours he lost 509 balls and finished up 290 over par.
Fascinating, funny and ultimately uplifting story is a glimps into a strange and unusual country, as well as an amazing tale of endurance and determination.
