I have never read any self-improvement books or hypnosis books, for that matter. I am glad though to have read Golfnosis. The funny thing is that I am not a golfer nor am I mesmerized by hypnosis so just reading the title of this book was not be enough to spark my interest. For some reason, however, I began perusing the text and found some of the chapters and subtitles interesting.

So I sat down and began reading suspecting that, like many other books I have examined before, I would soon place it back into its proper place on the shelf. Before I could do just that, I had already moved through the first two chapters and was anxious to move on. I was captivated by the way the material is presented since it depicts the incidents that occur in a Golfnosis seminar where golfers of different levels, from beginner to professional, attend these meetings with the hope of improving their game. The attendees’ expectations where that they were going to receive some kind of tips on how to improve their physical approach to the game such as how to improve on their strokes, maximize their swing, etc. But they were surprise to find out that their physical game was not what was deficient but rather their mental disposition coupled with their attitude were the limiting factors inhibiting the results of their game.

The book is packed with techniques to control your mind while staying calmed and focused (too many to list now). So what was in this book for me? I am a practicing martial artist and applying some of the techniques from this book has helped me in the art of Kung Fu San Soo. I have been able to improve my execution of self-defense techniques by controlling my emotions through self-hypnosis triggers that prompt my subconscious mind to take over in spur-of-the-moment /emergency situations. My body is now able to use what it has stored as muscle memory to execute techniques and attacks I have been practicing for years, without hesitation. I am now able to control my rational mind so that I do not over analyze everything I do, or over think what I have trained to execute as a natural reaction to dangerous situations. It is like developing a sixth sense with some confidence as a topping!

I have found that Golfnosis is a book that is helpful, inspirational, motivational, as well as transformational. The content applies to anything you put your energy into. Trust me. This is one book you want to add to your collection.

I'm not a good golfer so I thought reading this book would help, I knew it would not hurt. Yes using Doug's techinques did help my game but more it helped me in the stress of everyday life. Good reading for everyone.
