This watch is amazing in every way. 12 Dec. 2013
By Matthew C. Crabbe - Published on
Okay, the other reviews don't give a whole lot of information at all. One isn't even about the product itself, but about the strap and belt clip.

First off I researched a lot of GPSs before I purchased this one. Including big names like Bushnell and Garmin. But I went with this one because of the features it offered in comparison to the others.

The day I received this in the mail, I immediately took it to my main local course, which has a separate 18 hole course and a separate 9 hole course. Driving in the watch connected and knew where I was in conjunction to the 9 hole course, as you have to drive past holes 1-4 to get to the clubhouse. So no issues. Walking over to hole 1 of the 18 hole course required me to reset the watch as it was still connected to the 9 hole course. No big issue because as long as I turn the watch on when I am around hole 1 of the 18 hole course it connects to that course.

I don't use the voice functionality, but it is nice to have as you don't even need to look at the unit. The scorecard feature is nice and obviously having hazard distances is a pretty advanced feature.

The only issue I had with the watch was the bezel around the watch face came loose. I contacted the company and they told me: that version of the strap was recalled and sent me a free replacement that day. So +1 to their customer service.

+2 to their customer service, when I needed to request a course update. One of my home town courses underwent a redesign of a couple holes. Golfbuddy had a Par5 marked as a 4 and vice versa. I contacted them with the updated information, and they released the update later that week.

So there is no reason for this watch to be rated as a 1/5 due to the fact someone doesn't know how to use it or doesn't like the strap that was probably recalled anyways.

Very good product but 22 April 2014

I have owned two Garmin golf watches and the Golf Buddy is far superior as a golf gps. I have found that on average, the yardages on this unit are more accurate and with information provided, it is a more complete unit. The green view on the large main screen is far more useful, and the pre-mapping of hazards is easily accessed. The dynamic green view feature is also a very good feature if you are sometimes offline coming into the green.
There are however a few negatives. First, unlike the Garmin, this unit cannot realistically worn as a watch off the course as it is far too large and, more importantly, while it will give you the time and date if you swipe the screen left, your view of this is limited to a few seconds before it returns to the golf gps function. Second, it is a pain in the butt having to take the unit out of the watch strap in order to charge the battery. Finally, it would be more useful if you could keep your GIR, FW, and total putts stats on the unit. Having said all that however, If you like the functionality of a golf gps on your wrist, I think is likely the best unit currently available.

Battery only lasts 4-5 hours 1 Jun. 2014

Ok, I'm getting older and need reading glasses, thought the VT3 was the best idea, I could hear distances without needing to get glasses out. Well, this watch failed in so many ways. I fully charged the battery before golf, and then I noticed around the 14th hole that I only had 1 bar left, it was a slow round, and the watch died just as I got in the car, tried it a second time, same thing. Called Golf Buddy and they said the MAX battery life was 10 hours, I don't believe it. The watch talks to you when you don't want it to, and takes quite a while to get satellite connection. Started a game before the watch got a connection and it complained the entire first hole, long par 5, telling me to go to the T box so it could start. I am returning it, bought a Bushnell, just got back from a 5 day golf trip, 18 holes each day, my Neo XS lasted two rounds before charging and told me about hazards. The face of the GolfBuddy VT3 is also 2" x 2", which is large and uncomfortable.

Absolute Junk 21 Nov. 2013

This is junk.

I bought it as a gift. Sent it to my father. It didnt work. He contacted golf buddy. They had him download a software update. That didnt work. They wanted him to send it in. He did so. They sent it back or another one. Still didnt work. They will not refund the money. They wont even answer the phone.

Pure junk - not heavy enough for a paper weight.

The lowest possible rating is 1 star. This truly deserves no stars at all. It deserves 5 barfing emoticons.

A real downgrade from the Golf Buddy Voice 30 Dec. 2013
By S. Mackness - Published on
I'll keep this short and sweet. I'm on my 3rd GolfBuddy VT3 and have basically given up on this model. The first two units had the face delaminate from the body. The 3rd unit managed to crack its face (I have no idea how this happened but I can assure you it wasn't during any sort of abnormal wear or use).

-Good touch screen interface
-Accurate GPS
-Support reasonable to deal with

-Very poor construction and material quality, especially compared to the original GolfBuddy Voice (which was very solid)
-In my limited use battery life was poor, barely lasting one 4-5 hour round
