Bought this to complement another title I own by the author, Practical Golf. The latter represented an excellent instructional book which provided guidance on all aspects of the game including the fundamentals, the long game, the short game and even the mental side. The golf swing simplified is different in that it only concentrates on the golf swing and it does exactly what is says on the tin. Since reading the book, my game has improved drastically. I currently play off a handicap of 8, and I have high hopes of reducing my handicap when club competitions restart next year. No jargon, no nonsense, just good advice which will assist golfers of any level to hit well struck straight golf shots more often. Highly recommended.

By putting his thoughts into print John Jacobs does justice to his global reputation as a golf coach for both professionals and amateurs.

Great for Not-So-Great Players 5 July 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I've only golfed for about 3 years, off and on, and I've always been afflicted by a monster slice. After reading this, I noticed results the first time I played. It didn't "cure" my problem, but it vastly improved the situation by focusing me the real causes of the slice. It really helped for hitting the long ball...and translated well for the short game. I loved it.

It's simple all right. 10 July 2001

A super tool for the beginer or other golfer who hasn't figured out what's happening when they hit the ball. Good if you shoot say over 95. I was a little disapointed in the brevity of the book, ( a careful reading took me less than two hours). It is as clear as it gets and it was usefull, but if your looking to break 90 or lower, look elsewhere.

What else is there to know? 9 Sep 2005
By Oneputt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I love this book. Somehow golfers always think there is some secret that once discovered will change them forever. After playing this game since I was 12 and reading more books than I care to admit, I agree with Jacobs that the only secret to golf is getting impact correct. Sensing/feeling impact isn't easy but the ball tells all. Once you know how to hold the club and line up, ball flight is your best teacher and Jacobs focuses on this fundamental fact in a way that will leave you wondering why you've looked elsewhere for answers. This is the essence of it all - impact and ball flight.

Best book on the golf swing out there!! 3 Jan 2014
By Bob Knepper - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is the best book I have read on the fundamental of the golf swing I have read!! I have read books by Leadbetter, Woods, Hogan, Nicklaus and Harmon to name a few and Jacobs had done the best job of really describing the golf swing in a way that the novice/beginner can really understand. This book is a must read for the beginner who want so understand what the golf swing is really about. Not a book on cute quick fixes....but about the golf swing itself which most of us hackers know very little about. I think it is the best out there.

Awesome old time instruction 7 Mar 2012
By Paul Trisket - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This golf instruction book is one of the best for any beginner. It rivals Harvey Pennick's little red book, maybe. It breaks everything in your golf swing down to the basics. Oh, and it's only less than $20.00!!
