This is one of those books where you just can't believe that someone hasn't thought of the idea before.
The author has set himself the task of playing golf on eighteen different Scottish Islands and the book follows his adventures as he travels around the various islands meeting the locals and experiencing the courses.
He's doing the journey as a tribute to his dad who has recently passed away and the memories and little bits of biography that are woven into the story are very moving and well written. I'm not much of a golfer and I enjoyed this book for it's jokes, warmth and positive, life-affirming story.

My husband is a keen golfer and loves the Scottish islands, a big fan of the tv series Island Parish filmed in this area. So a combination of golf by an ordinary golf enthusiast in this setting proved a really enjoyable read for him.

This is an excellent book for the armchair golfer or the fair weather golfer on wet days. It excellently evokes the magnificent scenery and golf challenges on the islands of north west Scotland.
