I enjoyed Mary Brown's book, it has wonderful photos of antique and modern goldwork embroidery. It's a good introduction to the historical use of goldwork and its modern interpretations.
The instructions are clear and fairly precise...sometimes a little complicated for a novice embroiderer.
The photography is great, I liked the cover photo and it's accompanying project. I also liked the projects entitled 'Japanese Landscape' and 'Vine of Flowers'...I wasn't too keen on some of the other projects. I would have liked to have seen more on the Or Nue technique, and perhaps a project accompanying that.
All in all a very useful book and well worth having as a refernce and inspiration.
