This is vintage 60's Barry scoring. The Main Theme, belted out by both the orchestra and Shirley Bassey at her lung bursting best, is not just classic Bond, but a classic theme in any genre. And when the last note has died away we move into a nice little catchy number 'Into Miami'.
The Bond Theme appears in its twangy guitar glory with 'Bond Back In Action' and in a different variation with the main theme in 'Oddjobs Pressing Engagement'.
'Alpine Drive' provides a pleasant instrumental version of the main theme and at the other end of the scale there's an instrumental version of the theme featuring electric guitar and shrieking strings in a speaker blasting riot which is wonderful. The end title 'Death Of Goldfinger' is another variation on the main theme.
'Aurics Factory', 'Teasing The Korean' and 'Gassing The Gangsters' are archytypal 60's Barry slow building suspense pieces. The main climactic action music is contained in the two tracks 'Dawn Raid On Fort Knox' and 'The Arrival Of The Bomb And Countdown'.
Pity that this CD has been taken from (is?) the US version because it's missing several tracks that were on the original UK vinyl version. For that reason I had to dock it 1 star.
