“Golden and her brother, Knightly, have a special present to deliver to their dear grandmother: A bountiful bouquet from their hearts. Join these thoughtful, little bunnies on their springtime adventure.
Golden's Spring Bouquet conveys the love grandchildren have for their grandmother and the love the grandmother has for her grandchildren. Any gift a child gives is the sweetest gesture and in this story you will find the grandmother knows this to be true. ”
Once again Valko, author of the Dee & Maya series, delivers a simplistic read with her beautiful watercolor illustrations. This is her third book and a stand alone from Dee & Maya.
Second graders enjoyed listening and reading this book with me for read aloud. Most recognized the illustrations immediately and asked if this was an author we had previously read (yes-twice!). The class went straight into a great discussion afterwards about unconditional love. It was rewarding to see the children realize that it’s not always about the materialistic things in life. A great comment from a child was, “ sometimes we get so caught up in races and trying to win that we forget why we started out in the first place.”
True to Valko’s form, she delivers another teaching story. Recommended for ages 3-7 and an excellent choice for early K-2 readers.
