If you know Isotopes music I can recommend this as a very good live recording, at least half the CD, the recording quality detoriates for the last 4-5 tracks, which annoys me since the music is so very good. That affect my rating, otherwise it would be a five.
If you don't recognize this not very well known fusion band, there are some leads: Hugh Hopper and Soft Machine. Or even, early Weather Report. The music is melodic and moody, with a sinister tinge, like a soundtrack to a good SF-movie. The band later got into more runofthmill fusion with gutarist Gary Boyle in focus (but still very good, I must say). I think the "Hopper-era" is musically much more interesting and original. The music on this CD is avantgardistic-minimalistic but with ample energy and fluid improvisation. If you like slightly weird fusion music you will like this. The bass passages by Hopper is enough reason to buy this one.
