The author has produced an exhaustive and informative account of the Golden Retriever. She is obviously an expert/authority on the breed, and her love for the same is evident throughout. The contents of the book range from working goldens, to breeding, and handling in both working and breed competition. There is a welcome chapter on homeopathic rememdies for various ailments. Whether one is a new owner or one who has been priviledged to have owned goldens over the years, there is something for everyone in this book. Pounds-Longhurst has produced a well-researched account of the Golden Retriever. A disappointment however, is the quality of many of the colour photographs which are to be found in this book. The publishers did the author no favours by using inferior scanning techniques. With a book of this calibre, the author is due better treatment.
