Eleanor is woman who has hit bottom. Her husband is dead and she has three girls to take care of and no job. When things are at the lowest, Eleanor goes to Dick Fletcher a man who has loved Eleanor for for years. At this point Dick is engaged to another woman, but it does not him from helping Eleanor. Though the years, Dick marries and Eleanor remarries, it not till the Great War that she is able to repay Dick for all that he did for her and her "Golden Girls."
"The Golden Girls" is the second book by Elvi Rhodes that I have read and as before I did enjoyed it. Ms. Rhodes give the reader rich character that the reader care about. The first part of the book focuses on Eleanor, while the second half of the book focuses on Eleanor daughters. Over all "The Golden Girls" was a good read.
