Product Description

Product Description

With his easy laugh and knowing eyes, Jell grew up street, while I was raised to be a pillar of society. When the FBI asked me to betray him—the guy I've had a crush on since ninth grade—I went straight to Jell. Now he and I have one less secret between us. Which would be great if we didn't have to escape a psychiatric clinic in the middle of the night, half naked, with people shooting at us. The only refuge we can agree to head for is my crazy cousin Gator's retirement village.

We're lost. We're cold. And I've never been so alive.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 6 Oct 2012

Saw all the US 5* reviews for this and thought for a freebie it sounded promising. Sorry but this didn't do a thing for me at all. Like Furio- other reviewer - I found it confusing and agree with pretty much everything he said. If there was humour there I didn't see it or get it, and the love scenes came over flat because the attraction just didn't seem to work between the two main guys IMO. Overall a strange disjointed short story that will possibly appeal to some but it was an automatic delete from my Kindle. Still I always say each to their own, so give it a try, if it stays a freebie there's nothing to lose but the time taken reading it!

1.0 out of 5 stars confused and confusing 5 Oct 2012
By Furio
Format:Kindle Edition
007 movies are often messy, redundant and unclear. But at least there are mind blowing special effects, beautiful title tracks sung by Adele and eye candies such as Mr Craig.
This long short story/short novella is just messy.

Suspended between M/M erotic romance, mystery novel, coming of age story it fails to deliver on all accounts. All three fictional souls of the work feel underdeveloped and the balance that should mesh them together is never struck. I felt thrown from port to starboard with no idea where the story was going.
Writing is not always clear, particularly during the two action scenes. The shooting towards the end is particularly ill done: I cannot give the details because I would give away the plot but there were moments I could not understand who was doing what and where.
The conclusion tops it all by not even managing a happy for now: the last pages are simply there, nothing is solved and feelings are unclear.

The only clear message this work manages to pass through is how homophobic and judgemental a part of US afro-american community is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice story 7 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed reading about these two 'Golden Boys' who are both struggling with who they are expected to be while trying to satisfy who they really are. What I most liked was that the reality of their relationship wasn't a fairy tale happy ending but a down to earth solution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Would read anything by this author 22 Sep 2012

Amber Green gives us another wonderfully intense story. I loved the emotions conveyed in this story. Both characters came to life and the scenes at Gator's house were great. Definitely a recommended read for all GBLT readers and anyone else interested in a good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Helping of Amber 13 Jan 2011

Amber Green has one of the quickest and sharpest wits I've ever encountered.
Add to that characters and settings that magnetically drew me into this story, and you have another superb Amber Green novel.
Action, sex, suspense, sex, intrigue, and . . . did I mention sex?
How can you go wrong?

5.0 out of 5 stars More from Ms. Green 4 Nov 2012
By D. L. Vaughan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a fan of Ms. Green's work, I have yet to be disappointed. She paints the scene beautifully with fewer words than any other writer I know. Not normally a reader of M/M, Golden Boys and her other works always bring more than sex to the table. I could feel the joy and anguish between her characters. This story provides great imagery, characterization, and action to keep both the reader's attention and the plot moving forward. Could it have been longer? Certainly. Did it need to be? No.

If you like Golden Boys, be sure to check out her other works!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable read 23 Oct 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

This was a new author for me, but I will definitely be on the lookout for more Amber Green stories after this delight. The plot sucked me in right from the start, and I read the whole thing in one sitting because I was hooked. A really nice balance of action and emotional moments, with diaglogue that is realistic without being over the top. My only complaint would be that it is so short, I was really getting into these fellas when it was suddenly time to let them go. I'd gladly pay for a sequel!
