Falling squarely into the category of toys for grown-up kids, this set of four Banana Splits beanies will trigger gurgles of nostalgic delight from anyone around the age of 30. Standing around 20 cm high, these stuffed versions of the show's stars, Fleegle (the beagle), Drooper (the lion), Snorky (the woolly elephant) and Bingo (the tombstone-toothed orange gorilla) are made from great quality materials and with loving attention to detail; they look just like their TV counterparts would have done had they not suffered from the washed-out look that blighted late-60s TV. Small parts like the foursome's shades and firemen's helmets may be detached by overeager playing so they're not suitable for under-threes, but then you'd have to be a pretty generous parent not to park these on a high shelf and admire them from a distance. I was chuffed to bits when my husband brought me fleegle for our wedding anniversary!!
As soon as he told me you could by the set we where straight out to buy the other three. We brought ours from "Birthday" card shop and they where selling two sizes, the larger playing the Banana splits theme.
They are quite realistic and certainly bring back fond memories of my childhood. It is posssible to buy the series on VHS with the Three Musketeers and the Arabian Knights on it.
