I have had the vinyl version of Gold for well over thirty years.
This has a much better cover but no Living In America that was ten years away.
I have been a James Brown fan for nearly forty years since Sex Machine was a hit.
Fantastic CD with all the hits buy this but then you will need the Showtime box set and all the original singles collections.
Collecting James Brown can be an expensive hobby!

I've got a couple of James Brown CDs, including an excellent, older hit collection (Out of Sight), but that's only a single CD, and you always need a bit more of the Godfather. So I bought Gold, which contains a terrific collection of songs, was released in 2005 and digitally remastered. What could go wrong?

The sound is very poor. A CD sticker says it's been digitally remastered, but it doesn't say when. It's got that muddy sound you get from poorly mastered 70s CDs. Very disappointing - I feel conned. Although this Gold is cheap, it's poor value. Fool's Gold more like. The 2002 'Out of Sight' CD sounds much cleaner, with much better definition.

A friend recommended this to me, and i have to say that i have to say a big thanks to him because this album really is worth the money. From soul to funk this 2 CD album has it all. It absolutely oozes with class and top tunes. My favourites are 'King Heroin' and 'Too Funky In Here' to name a couple, but in truth there isn't a duff track on this CD. Highly recommended.
