Value for money (2 CD's - 40 tracks - Cheap as chips) and track selections are excellent with everything from everything worth having from their early and by far best period. Forget 'Crazy Nights' and 'Animalize' etc..when they were trying too hard to fit in with what was around at that time, this is what you need to buy 'KISS GOLD - 1974 to 1982' good time american rock with tracks from every album (sixteen in total) in chronological order including the four solo albums and two brilliant live albums.
I have all the early KISS albums on vinyl and just wanted a good compilation CD and this is the one - So if you want to know what Gene Simmons did and how he made his millions before he did 'Rock School' get this!!

This is the best KISS compilation since the BOX set and much more affordable. You get a fully comprehensive selection of 40 of the best songs from the 'make-up' era and a DVD featuring their better '80s videos and classic live archive footage, delivered in a tongue in cheek 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous manner'.
The packaging is superb too with a colour booklet, liner notes and deluxe triple fold out box, a surprise as this has been put together by Kiss' old record company Mercury/Island/Def Jam (Kiss are now signed to Sanctuary records).
A pleasant suprise, I wasn't expecting the attention to detail in track selection or presentation from what is essentially a record company issue with little (if any) input from the band. Can't wait for the upcoming Rock The Nation DVD though!

For under 20 notes the KISS Gold boxset is excellent value for money, it features 2 disc's and a DVD called KISS EXPOSED, both discs contain 20 songs each, with great songs such as 'strutter', 'shout it out loud, the 2 discs are a 'best of' in their own right, The DVD features 15 music videos from live gigs around the world, and a pretty funny look at the KISS guy's home, with some interviews and some never before seen footage. Overall this is a worthy addition to any KISS fans collection and at under 20 notes is an absolute bargain

"Kiss Gold"? If you are reading this then you are probably interested in the DVD of "Kiss Exposed" that comes as part of this package as it is the only way to obtain it. Unfortunately, you will have to buy yet another compilation of arguably Kiss` most musically fruitfull period. We Kiss fans have always had to have deep pockets and it seems that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley want their fanbase to be poorer whilst they themselves get richer.
I have been a fan for a long time and there is no doubt that most of the songs on the double CD are fantastic slabs of goodtime rock n roll. If you are new to Kiss and want to know what the fuss is about then have no hesitation in buying this set. However, I personally think that there will are fewer and fewer punters getting into the band through shameless repackaging like this. We all bought the "Kiss boxset", "Greatest Kiss", "Smashes, thrashes and hits", "Kiss Killers", "Double platinum" and all the other compilations which all contain the bulk of these songs. We will have to buy them again in order to enjoy the DVD, which was made circa 1986 and features many of their 80`s promos and archive live footage from the 70`s. It is linked by ludicrous scenes of Kiss lording it up in a mansion surrounded by beautiful women. It is truely classic Kiss, probably their best home video.
This is a five star package for those casual fans who either want a handy collection of hits or someone starting their Kiss collection. However, two stars off for ripping off the hardcore fans. Who is this collection aimed at, Gene and Paul? Take a leaf out of Iron Maiden`s book and give us something that we haven`t got for our hard earned. Either that or release the DVD seperately for half the price.

Yet another compilation i hear myself scream but wait this is actually had some thought put in,the 2 discs are fantastic the best compilation to date in fact, although only covering 74' to 82' its pretty much got the lot for this era ,everyone will have a minor quibble re a track here and there, but if you dont want to purchase the original studio albums then this is for you,as i type this im stunned that kiss gold volume 2 hasn't arrived,i predicted it would be issued say 6 months after this covering creatures to the present and that the bonus dvd would be Animalise:live uncensored,i hope im eventually proved right

I was a massive fan of Kiss as a teenager, and my music tastes have thankfully matured, however I still enjoy listening to Kiss now and again, and they were always a fascinating band, what with power struggles, between the sober, business-driven Simmons & Stanley, and the wild boys Frehley & Criss. They released a huge amount of studio albums during their heydey, and no compliation is going to suit all needs, however this is the best of the lot in my opinion. All the big songs are here (Deuce, Detroit Rock City, Rock and Roll All Nite, Beth, Love Gun), The less known songs are generaly well picked, Good to see Parasite & Got To Choose on the first disc. Disc 2 includes a song each from their solo albums, all are probably the best songs, on what were pretty awful albums to sit through (Frehley & Stanley's were ok, but just ok) Would of preferred more stuff from Unmaked & The Elder, 2 hugely underated albums, where I think Kiss peaked as songwriters. A fine choice to include Nowhere To Run, a forgotten gem recorded Post-Elder, Pre Creatures.
