This informative handbook is a great all-round guide if you are considering moving out to Greece. It deals succinctly with the nitty gritty of all the formalities: registering your arrival, seeking health treatment, driving in Greece, working for a living, setting up a business, education and learning the language are just a few of the topics covered in detail. This book is a really good outline of just what you need to know before you move.

Living in Greece 25 April 2012
By Garnet
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have to say that the book was interesting but lacked a true understanding of what living in Greece can be like. To anyone out there who is contemplating such a venture I would advise the following:

a. Beware barking dogs (mostly everywhere)
b. Beware of Buzz saws (wooded areas only)
c. Beware the the next building site next to where you buy. The noise is constant as is the cloud of dust that accompanies it.
d. Finally but not all, beware of stealth taxes that can appear as if by magic and have to be paid(the fines for not doing so will bankrupt you)!

All these things have happened to me but i still say it is a wonderful place to be.

Some good info for Brits, but few others 17 Mar 2006
By KC - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
My experience as an American expat moving/living/working in Greece for 10 years motivated me to buy this book in hopes of learning something new. I didn't.

While Mr. Reynolds knows Greece from experience and knowledge of the language, some information is outdated and aimed primarily and specifically toward people from the UK. This book offers a brief overview/introduction that absolute newcomers might find useful, but when tackling employment, retirement, purchasing a home and visa/work permit issues, it will offer you nothing. There are also no website addresses.

The EU has several new members, which means competition is at an all-time high for employment, and immigration laws have been tightened under the new government. Regulations are changing all of the time, but EU citizens such as Mr. Reynolds are not affected by this.

It is also worth noting that this book was written from a man's point of view, and life and work for a woman or a family in Greece are quite different. In short, there is some good information for Brits but much less for the rest of the world.

Some 99 percent of nationalities will still be in the dark after purchasing this 'updated' version, which will unfortunately not help much in real life.
