Sheer, Unadulterated, Old Fashioned Fun,

This review is from: Going Indoors: The Further Adventures of Unconventional Not So Innocent Village Life (Reverend Percival Peabody) (Paperback)
I am not into Bowls, but I am very much into reading local authors so I tried the new novel by Paul Hammond called 'Going Indoors'. It is the third in a series, and even though I have yet to read the others, I found this one immediately accessible with a host of humourously drawn and instantly recognisable characters. The book takes you straight into the centre of Lower Southborough and holds you there with a flood of hilariously written set-pieces as villagers and circumstances get increasingly out of control. Without even a hint of authorly pretension, this is sheer, unadulterated, old fashioned Fun which kept me chuckling (sometimes loudly) from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone in need of some light relief.

A book you can't put down,

I have just finished reading the new novel GOING INDOORS by Paul Hammond and have to say it's the best laugh I have had in ages. This was a very funny book indeed; it had me in stitches over and over again. The 'hypothetical' village life and its parishioner's insane shenanigans were very reminiscent of 'The Vicar of Dibley' with its ambitious, creative wayward adventures and I absolutely loved it. At last an author with a sense of old fashioned creative comedy that puts the reader inside the storyline from start to finish.

Compulsive Reading!,

Having discovered the author's previous book purely by chance, I was hooked on his compulsive style of comedy writing. I eagerly awaited his new book and was not disappointed by any means! One of the funniest comedies I have ever read and I immediately ordered two more copies for my family. This is simply a book that pulls you head first into its story line and keeps you coming back for more.
