Product Description

Review
'The book draws information from a wide variety of sources and presents it in an easily digested form that will appeal to a wide audience.' Professional Manager (Jan 2008) 'Richard Worsley and Michael Moynagh have done a lot of work to produce Going Global. The result is a thorough, carefully researched and highly readable book..Strongly recommended.' Ian Scott, former World Bank Director 'Each of the 12 topics covered by the book has far reaching implications for all of us - dispassionate and comprehensive.' Philip Rycroft, Director-General Education, Scottish Government 'A most thought-provoking book. I hope people will read it slowly because so much has been packed into it.' Professor Andrew Hughes-Hallett, George Mason University (USA) and St. Andrew's University 'Going Global offers that rare combination in a book - lots of accessible facts, the drawing of important links between seemingly loosely related subjects, and clarity of analysis. Read it.' People Management (Main) March 2008

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading as a citizen , 28 Jan 2008
By A. J. Morris (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am halfway through the Globalisation book. It is excellent - very easy to navigate and concise. There is a sense of getting to the nitty-gritty very quickly. As someone with a general citizen's interest in the issues I feel confident that I will be able to finish the book by reading in occasional short bursts and still get a long-lasting and coherent impression.

5.0 out of 5 stars Global Future, 25 Jan 2008
A thoroughly well-planned and well presented overview of many of the important issues facing us in this century. I found the short, clearly titled chapters made the book easy to browse, and the bullet points, diagrams and use of colour kept up the interest in areas that could otherwise become heavy.
I am not an expert in any of the areas covered, and I feel the book will appeal to others who just want a summary of key points.
This is a book than can be read sequentially, browsed or used as a sourcebook, as it has a sensible number of references.
Recommended reading for all global citizens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Answers the big questions, 24 Jan 2008
By Steven Kelynack (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The authors have achieved a remarkable feat. They have condensed the complex and challenging global issues that we face over the next couple of decades into this well presented and accessible book.

Climate, terrorism, migration, communications, poverty, energy and emerging economies are tackled in their own chapters. The authors discuss the tension between migration and national identity and look at how successful governments and businesses might need to put greater emphasis on accountability and human relationships. They explore how the world might react to more successful terrorism and in the debate on feeding a growing population they examine how food fashions might change. In fact they tackle just about every global issue there is. Presented with well informed data and challenging many stereotypes. The book is well laid out, allowing the reader to dip in to find a pertinent perspective quickly.

The only agenda the book seems to have is greater enlightenment which is pretty rare in my experience. It is therefore perhaps more objective than most books on this subject. It has a refreshing clarity and manages to be succinct yet comprehensive.

I highly recommend this work to anyone who is planning to take an active part in the 21st century.
