What ever happened to Fisher Z? The band hardly features in the current trend of top100-all-time-great-albums lists. Fischer Z was/is a remakable band, with the sort of grim new wave rock which came to the foreground in the late 1970's. This album is one of Fischer Z's best - catchy guitar riffs, good songs and likable lyrics. 'So Long'is still a great number - on par with anything from Travis, to name one. Foreman Watts is a gifted, talented songwriter. A shame that this album is often overlooked.
If you like the crafted and slightly catchy rock songs, none to heavy but solid, and great, understandable lyrics - this is an album that won't let you down.

I'm fortunate enough to recall going to see Fischer Z in 1980 at the launch of this album in the YMCA in London near the British museum. It was an awesome night and a fantastic gig. True to the title, our ears were ringing for the rest of the night and I'm sure the bands' were too. It bring's back so many good memories and the reggae buzz that was around at the time is heard on this album. (Think of Mikey Dread's influence on the Clash). The crisp delivery and the clean sound was so characteristic of the band and I'm enjoying rediscovering their early albums again. It's really odd that I don't feel it's dated but at the same time - it is very 1980's. Maybe it's my age.

Great sound of the eighties by a band more famous in Europe that in the UK. Haven't been able to play my vinyl for well over ten years so to get the CD was a treat. Funny how I still know all the words......
Good price, arrived quickly.

This, the second album by Fischer-Z, features the guitar more prominently than its predecessor, giving it a more solid sound. So Long, probably the highlight here, chugs along in much the same way as The Cars' early singles and The Police influence is dropped. The songs also seem to relate to more personal themes than on the debut album. This is perhaps more limiting but at its best this is a strong, satisfying album. Unfortunately, some of the songs in the second half are not up to standard. Limbo, in particular, is utter piffle. More erratic than Word Salad,Going Deaf For A Living nevertheless has some fine moments.
