My immediate thought after seeing this book was: "I have to visit Australia soon!"
This book takes you into the locker room, onto the playing fields, or into dark and atmospheric industrial spaces. The settings, though are not what this is about. The focus is firmly on young and handsome Australian men. Sportsmen. In my opinion, the footballer John Williams (North Queensland Cowboys)would have made a great career as a model if he had not ventured into sport. He is an absolute masterpiece. Other highlights include William Zillman (Canberra Raiders), Josh Perry (Manly Sea Eagles), and Luke O'Donnell (North Queensland Cowboys). This book just goes to show what sunshine, a healthy diet and lots of sport can do for a man. These boys did not get to look this good by lounging about in front of the TV and eating pizza. Of course, being born with good genes helps too. If you are expecting full nudity, you will not find it here. At times the models come teasingly close to showing all, but a towel or hand are just in the right place to prevent you getting an eyeful. The quality of the photographs as well as the subjects cannot be bettered. My only complaint is the repetition of some of the photos towards the back of the book. In general though, a classy, beautifully made book, with proceeds going to a good cause, the McGrath cancer fund.
