A few minor problems: for all the passion and intellect displayed here, Wallis' writing style can be a little laboured and the book could probably have been at least 50 pages shorter as he tends to repeat himself. Also, he comes across as pretty humourless, with very little banter apart from that he finds funny, all of which does little to dispel the (wrong) notion that people like him can be a bit wet and whiny. Finally, he doesn't half like to pat himself on the back for his efforts! There was a passage when he talked about Nelson Mandela's inauguration and a moment then when he grabbed Desmond Tutu by the arms and had 'tears streaming down my face'. He likes to let you know about these moments when he's been at the centre of it all. I know these are all probably examples to encourage others, but they often come across as pretty self-congratulatory.
Those, however, are small quibbles for a book that Gordon Brown has rightly proclaimed as being of great importance.
