Product Description

Product Description

Returning to Rome from a forced sabbatical, a newly appointed Jesuit cardinal discovers a dark force that has ruled a single family for over seven hundred years has been unleashed against the world. With the clock ticking, he joins with a dedicated group of Israeli and Spanish scientists who are thrust into an end-game scenario as they race across the globe in an effort to stop the greatest threat mankind has ever faced, only to discover that they may already be too late.

Once again, the meticulous research that has become the hallmark of author John Lyman's work is evident in this bone-chilling sequel to his best selling novel, "God's Lions - The Secret Chapel", as readers are transported into the cloistered world of archaeologists, code-breakers, molecular biologists, and intelligence specialists who have discovered a hidden code within the pages of the Old Testament. Put on a pot of coffee. This page-turning thriller will bring out your creative side when you try to explain to your boss why you are late for work the next morning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb read well done John Lyman 31 Jan 2012
By JohnL
Format:Kindle Edition
To echo previous reviews I bought the Gods Lions books as a pair and read them in a matter of days. Highy readable and very engaging characters. It is true House of Acerbi doesnt have such a heavy supernatural/religious element as the first book, but in some ways it makes for a better story as the plot does not jump around so quickly which allows you to buy into each of the teams endeavours as they unfold. This is great quality work in the genre at a ridiculously cheap price. Well done John, pleased to have a new author on my watch list.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent sequel 21 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
John, in his second book, has again produced a book that captures the essence of good and evil and its impact on the world. The book took me three days to read and that was only because I had to work inbetween times and of course sleep. The historical detail is excellent as is the up to date information given. The story moves at a breakneck pace and is full of action as well as more sobering moments. Interesting ending which is a contoversial subject in the Catholic church and leaves the way open for book number three. Give this book a read, you will not be sorry although you really need to read book one to get an insight into some of the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars another 5 star smash 10 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am so glad I downloaded this and the prequel. A mix of Indiana Jones/da Vinci code and James Bond, make for a very engaging story, though I do feel that this second book lacked some of the supernatural and Bible Code elements of the first book. Totally absorbing. These books would translate well into a movie. Totally hooked, I hope that the ending presages a third book in this series. More if you please Mr Lyman

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sequel 6 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As with the first book in the series it is fast paced and with interesting characters although I would agree with the previous reviewer that for a fuller understanding of them and their overall objectives you really need to read the first book beforehand - but that is no hardship!
It also sets the groundwork for the next in the series - and I am now looking forward to reading more about this extraordinary team.
Enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! 5 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I too read both books back to back (Kindle Edition) and quite honestly could not put them down. I found the characters totally absorbing and was really drawn in to everything that was going on. There are many sub plots, such as Leo's frustration with the catholic churches' archaic ways, which makes it all the more believable. There is certainly a third book on the way and i will be the first in the que!

4.0 out of 5 stars God's Lions, the sequel 4 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Father Leo and Father Morelli return in the second book in the series. Again it's action packed with lots going on, some controversial topics covered, and a couple of decent plot twists.

This time the group go after a wealthy industrialist, who appears to want to destroy the world.

It's well written and John Lyman is a very good author. The only reason I didn't give this the full five stars is that the book seemed to wind up very quickly. Perhaps it was me being greedy, and just wanting more, but the resolution to the story seemed to just run over a couple of pages at the end. I think this is because the author is going to release book 3 in the series and will pick up the thread from there book 2 leaves off.

On the whole, a really enjoyable read, and I would wholly recommend to anyone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW 8 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am so glad that kindle put books on for free otherwise I would have missed this little gem. Very much written in the same thread as the Sanctus and the key by Simon Toyne with the plot written loosely around the church and religion, however completely different. These genres of books are fast becoming a firm favourite of mine and I read this book from start to finish in a very short space of time. The story line, the character and the style of writing had me hooked and I just had to read the other books in the series before anything else. A fab author and would definately read anything by him again
