5.0 out of 5 stars Clear Concise and Helpful 17 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The fact that this book is based in scripture attracted me to it. This is not about fads and probably would not be popular with a good number of people. As always John MacArthur packs a powerful punch as he delivers. Personally I found the book easy to follow and liberating. It is a small book that I shall read again as the writing is of such an excellent standard. These truths are not taught today - what a pity.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true light in a gender confused world 11 May 2014
By Penguin
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Gender equality has been held out as a social virtue to be pursued. I embraced it too, taking advantage for the opportunities it had opened up for women. I was not good at everything, but in my areas of strength I did not see why I should be assumed to be inferior to men before proven to be so. For example, in considering a profession, gender did not even enter the equation. In that world, there were no roles pre-determined to be male or female. I never ever challenged that world view, until God imposed a lengthy career break on me, which I took in obedience. Little did I foresee it was the beginning when God worked to correct my gender-confused worldview and through the transformation, He brought blessings to my family. When my unpaid leave expired, I made the choice not to return to work, having lived out God's wisdom.

Beware that equality in the worldview often implies sameness. But the truth is that men and women are different - this is how we are created. To deny this fundamental truth about us is to deny our womanhood! Thinking back, the demand to match up with my male colleagues in the workplace was actually unkind to myself! It was effortless for them to be themselves, but it was hard work for me to ignore our differences and strike to be the same as them. That was the way to prove myself. (Was that really equality?) When children came along, the pressure was to be a superwoman. The world gave tremendous glory to a mother who could have everything - a glaring career combined with a happy family. I bet a lot of women have been crushed under the pressure just by trying. It's a myth that a superwoman exists. She doesn't. No one can do everything, let alone excel in everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book 10 Feb 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I purchased this book because, I wanted to give it to one of the women in my church who works with children and is always first to volunteer, to visit the sick, she never pushes her way onto the platform, but is a model of virtue and humbleness, this book put a smile on her face, and reassured her she was just where God wanted her to be, I am buying another copy for those ladies who leave all the caring and nurturing work to this woman because they may lose their moment of fame.
