Product Description

For too long religion has enjoyed the benefit of the doubt, taking all the benefit and allowing none of the doubt. With the rise of Islam and political correctness, the threat it now poses to our basic freedoms is beyond a joke. Award-winning comedian Pat Condell gets serious and gives religion the kicking it deserves in his popular and controversial video monologues, sixty of which are collected here for the first time, including Welcome to Saudi Britain, Free Speech Is Sacred and Wake Up, America.

I have tremendous respect for Mr. Condell. One of the few people who openly says what many deem as taboo. While - as an orthodox Christian I do not share all of Mr. Condell's views, but many things (especially regarding islam) are so true and simply need to be said, even if you make some enemies.
Pat Condell is a very talented writer - although this is a rather serious topic there is much humor in it and it doesn't seem out of place. Few people can do that.
Another aspect is, he doesn't need to use hateful or aggressive language to get across what he has to say.

I can only say, GODLESS AND FREE is a must read, even if you might not agree on all he has to say.

5.0 out of 5 stars Offensive and funny, but truthful. 2 May 2010
Format:Paperback
Steer clear of this if you are a Christian, Jew or Muslim. Condell has no time for you if you think your religious views have any validity in today's society. Freedom of religious speech, a gay Jesus, America's obsession with christianity - it's all covered here in glorious, outspoken detail. Condell says what we atheists are all thinking but are perhaps too afraid to say publicly.
Buy it, read it, laugh, but above all, think about what he is saying. Beneath the humour is a real concern about the way we are headed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Says what others are too scared to say. 5 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
Talk about "Say it how it is", this is unbelievably frank and honest. Be warned though, not to be read by anyone of a delicate constitution. It's a heck of a rant but a very clever one. Everyone should read it. It's a wake up call for this country while we still have the chance of stopping the UK from becoming an Islamic state. I've read all the Dawkins, Harris and Hitchins books but this is fabulous! Not surprised about the death threats, though!

Like Condell, I don't care what religion people want to follow ... just so long as it doesn't affect MY life ... especially the killing me because I don't believe part.

Thoughtful, if irreverent take on religion and religions. The essays follow 'stream of consciousness' style, which echo the internet videos from which they were transcribed.
