At the beginning of Chapter 14 in Part II the picture keeps freezing on both my blu-ray player and PC (both have the latest firmware update). Amazon have kindly sent me a replacement and exactly the same thing happens, again on both the blu-ray player and the PC. What are other users' experience with this disk?
I have the same problem, I tried with 2 (!) different blu-ray-players (ps3) and had always the same freezes on chapter 14. Now I wait for an answer of amazon, what I should do with the 2 defective discs of the box. Shipping costs are high from Germany to UK :(
I had a problem with the second movie not playing at all on my playstation 3 I tried it on a friends and the same thing happened. I then bought another copy of it from tesco and it still didn't work, and considering the movie in question I was devestated. Thankfully at the time, I read on a website that if you put in the first film disc and play any section then go back to the second film it should Play. It worked. Thank god. But what a mess up, don't know who's fault this is but I dnt think its amazons Hope this helps
I have the same problem with Godfather ll (blu-ray trilogy). I have recieved 2 diff disk from Amazon and part ll stops at chapter 13., 01:41:32 on both disks (very strange). Amazon now want me to return the 2 box and I will get a refund. I can understand that there must be a bad transfer somewhere.
I received a faulty set and I am not happy with the full return or refund option - there must be a way to replace the single disc only - I am hunting for replacement offers from Paramount but with no luck so far...
I got a replacement first and end up with two defective box. No problems with the refund for me. I got mail from Amazon today regarding the faulty part II: Possible affected units can be identified by the catalogue reference BSP2032 appearing on the spine of the outer slipcase holding all four discs, coupled with the barcode reference 5 051368 203232 appearing on the underside of the outer slipcase.
An e-mail from Amazon assures me that I will not experience the same problem if I order now and they will make sure that faulty discs will not be sent. Can anyone who has ordered recently confirm this?
thank you J. Irmer, but has anyone bought this movie from any of the other Marketplace seller on amazon and faced the same problem? or is it only the amazon orders that has had this problem? I asked the same question to B68solutions, a marketplace sller on amazon, and their reply was that they have sold 500 of them and without any complaints. Its just that I am not from UK and it is a christmas gift I dont want there to be any problem, so if anyone has ordered from this particular seller or any other seller please let me know. Thank u
Oh, well, what do you know. I got my set today and it's faulty. So much for amazon's promise that they' not sending out defective units any longer.
By the way, my set has the codes somebody mentioned above: "catalogue reference BSP2032 appearing on the spine of the outer slipcase holding all four discs, coupled with the barcode reference 5 051368 203232 appearing on the underside of the outer slipcase".
A quick update. I contacted Amazon again and expressed my frustration that I was sent a faulty set even though I had been promised that wouldn't happen.
Amazon's reaction was fantastic. Normally, they said, they would send me a replacement. As the set is out of stock, however, they have refunded the purchase price (including shipping to Germany). So far, so good, but here's where it get's really good: As postage back to the UK would be "prohibitive", they told me to keep the set. So, in effect, I got Parts I and III as well as the bonus disc for free.
I'm assuming that the set will soon be in stock again - only this time with a fault-free Disc 2 and at a much higher price ...
I have just been contacted by amazon again and it seems that anybody who has a faulty disc will get a free replacement! :-)
Here's what amazon wrote:
"We have been made aware of a potential manufacturing issue with the title you purchased from Amazon.co.uk.
One of the discs in this boxed set: "The Godfather Part 2" may not work properly on your Blu-ray player.
The symptoms of the possible fault are that the disc for "The Godfather Part 2" will not play.
If you have experienced the symptoms described above when trying to playback "The Godfather Part 2" Blu-ray disc from this specific boxed set, please contact Rebecca.Sparrow@Technicolor.com who will provide you with details of how to return the faulty disc 2 and receive a free replacement disc.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, and for using Amazon.co.uk."
Same problem here, but I was warned by Amazon before delivery. I received an acknowledgement from Rebecca Sparrow - but it's going to be another eight days before the Freepost labels are ready and then another ten days to get a replacement. :-(
I have just received this set today (08/12/09) with the same catalogue number tried the chapters on disc 2 that are supposed to cause a problem and so far so good - no fault. I await a full session to see if anything crops up. It is the third time I have bought this-on VHS!!! DVD and now blu-ray. It's wonderful in any format - possibly the best movie ever made.
Update: I was given an adress by Rebecca Sparrow about two weeks ago. As I'm in Germany, I didn't have to wait for the Freepost address ... I sent my faulty disc in about 10 days ago and received my replacement today. It works fine.
In case anyone is fed up with waiting for the Freepost address, here's the address I sent my fault disc to:
FAO Rebecca Sparrow
Technicolor Home Entertainment, Building 1, 3rd Floor, No 566 Chiswick High road, London, W4 5BY.
I received an e-mail this week. I was told that I didn't have to send back the faulty disc as long as I could provide a scan of my original Amazon receipt - otherwise I'd have to send it to a Freepost address. I've replied to the e-mail so hopefully my replacement won't be long in coming.
