This is All Pigs Must Die's (APMD) debut album, following 2010's incredible self titled e.p.
APMD notably features Ben Koller of Converge and Kevin Baker of Hope Conspiracy, and the delivery of the material excels because of the breakneck drumming and direct and brutally nihilistic lyrics, respectively. APMD create a metal/hardcore/grind/doom hybrid with absolute bluntness, that expands upon their previous release with a number of creative flourishes: - blistering guitar and base solos feature in couple of songs, creative use of feedback, and APMD's longest song to date, the epic 'Sadistic Vindicator' at over 8 minutes.
Kevin Baker's lyrics are utterly nihilistic, without stepping over the line by glorifying the violent content. Topics include death of mass populations in (presumably) war-torn African countries ('Third World Genocide'), a teenage suicide bomber ('Pulverization'), and humanity's seemingly natural gravitation towards war and destruction though the ages ('God is War').
Make sure to pick up a copy of the limited cd version which comes with an extra disc - the self titled e.p. (previously only available on vinyl or download); its limited to 1000 copies.
I only have two minor criticisms - the vocals should have been slightly higher in the mix; the absolutely perfect self titled e.p. should have been used as a reference point in this regard, despite being recorded and mixed again by the best producer in heavy music today - Kurt Ballou. Secondly, the track 'Extinction is Ours' bizarrely fades out way to abruptly.
This is one of my favourite album's of the year, support this band and purchase immediately!

If you like brutal hardcore punk then this is the album for you. The production is good too and brings out the raw sound and heavy style the band are going for.
Really great, no clean vocals or sappy stuff...just smashes its way out the speakers! There's some solos and double bass naturally...

This disc overwhelmed me on first listen. Extremely pissed - off but not mindlessly so. The songs are topical but universal. There is certainly an air of hardcore but this is absolutely METALLIC music. Excellent musicianship all around. Beautiful production one of the best guitar sounds i've heard in a long time). Some nice variety in the songs tempo, etc. which isn't often the case with extreme metal. Throat-ripping but intelligible vocals are a big plus. If you like your music aggressive and intelligent get this now. I hope this isn't a one-off project and look forward to more excellent music from this band.
