In GOD IS NOT DEAD, Goswami moves beyond theory and shows how a God-based science puts ethics and values where it belongs: at the centre of our lives and societies. He provides a scientific model that steers between scientific materialism and religious fundamentalism; a model that has implications for how we live both individually and collectively.
GOD IS NOT DEAD is a fascinating tour of quantum physics, consciousness and the existence and experience of God.
"For anyone grappling with the interrelationship of mind, matter, and divinity, this book will offer much new food for thought." Beverly Rubik, PhD, biophysicist, Institute for Frontier Science Adjunct Professor, Saybrook --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

God Is Alive!,
By Steven Lane Taylor (Sedona, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God Is Not Dead: What Quantum Physics Tells Us About Our Origins and How We Should Live (Hardcover)
I didn't read this book to prove to me that there is a Divine Intelligence operating in this world. I have had enough miracles occur in my life to prove that fact to me, and I even wrote my own book on the subject. However, I was intrigued by the idea of having my beliefs corroborated by real scientific evidence. And this book seems to do just that. I say "seems to," because there was just a little bit too much technical jargon in this book for me, so it was sometimes difficult for me to completely comprehend what the author was saying. Overall, though, the evidence seemed fairly clear and convincing, and I appreciate the author's thoroughness. Another view on intelligent design,

This review is from: God Is Not Dead: What Quantum Physics Tells Us About Our Origins and How We Should Live (Hardcover)
Amit Goswami, for many years professor of physics at the University of oregon, but today perhaps best known for his contributions to the provocative and profound "What The Bleep"-movie. The movie 'sceptics' loved to hate.
In his previous books Goswami has tackled problems about the universe we live in, life after death/reincarnation and the Eastern concept of enlightenment, all viewed from his special outlook: combining quantum physics and spirituality in a non-dualistic vision. Here he again tackles the hot subject of intelligent design, presenting af view that's challenging both for creationists and neo-Darwinists (Dawkins & Co.). Showing that there's ample reason to admit, that we live in a Universe that's somehow 'created' by a higher intelligence. And showing convincingly, that subscribing to the sound view of 'Intelligent Design' has nothing whatsoever to do with (fundamentalist) Christianity. This territory he has covered before, but here he takes it a step futher, dealing with the loaded concept of a Creator/God. And trying to anchor his views in a practical morality, always a difficult matter to deal with. As always with Goswami the book is well-written, entertaining and thought-provoking. Another cry of insight and vision in the often all to barren modern day intellectual climate! Should appeal to readers interested in a new scientific paradigm. And in writers like B. Allan Wallace, Deepak Chopra, Stan Grof, Fred Alan Wolf. And anyone open minded enough to challenge his/hers prejudices about how the world around us (and in us) functions. As with his previous book this one is more engaging and challenging than deeply convincing.

This review is from: God Is Not Dead: What Quantum Physics Tells Us About Our Origins and How We Should Live (Hardcover)
I found this book by Amit Goswami far more accessable than his previous "self aware universe" and presents the case for the primacy of consciousness rather than matter as the mainframe of the book. As a former agnostic I have been lead to revise my view based upon my own experiences of non medical healings of serious ailments that cannot fit into the current materialist paradigm, nor rationalised by the fear based atheism of Richard Dawkins. It is only through the works of Goswami and other quantum theorists that these occurrences make some kind of sense. The most interesting part of the book for me presented the experiments detailing "non-local coherence" where a particular thought is transferred to a second party simultaniously rather than travelling from points A to B. This evidences at least on some subtle level, that consciousness is transcendent to the brain and would also be a ground to understanding distant healing.
Goswami also presents a lucid and common sense take on evolution, bridging "ceative intelligence" and current evolutionary theories rather than embracing intelligent design. A large chunk of the book handles how consciousness "collapses" the quantum waves into our 3D reality, albeit through some quite complex experimental data and examples but in a far more readable fashion than some of his earlier works. Bigotted atheists and religious fundamentalists may not be moved by this book, yet for anyone with an open mind who is receptive to the ideas presented in this work, many of the inconsistencies within the current materialist paradigm can be addressed.
