I wanted a book that would be witty & funny in order to keep me interested & being a big fan of the show I thought why not give this book a go. Have to say I utterly enjoied reading it, though at times nearing the borders of distasteful this is why I loved it, its a trueful representation as Hank as a character, he is never afraid to just be upfront about things & say it like it is. I loved the sex, drugs & Rock n roll theme portrayed. Loved laughing at his failures & the brillaint humour used. Everytime I sat there reading it I felt a little like Mia from the show when Hank first meets her sat in the bookstore reading his book & laughing to herself, which is exactly what it makes you do. I enjoied the characters, the plot & felt it was just the right length, it left you wanting more which is what a book should do.
I would definately recommend it to anyone who enjoied the show, though not for those who haven't seen it as in my opinion you definately need to know a little about Hank before you go diving in at the deep end as you could get easily offended. Loved the title too, always gets people asking about what your reading possibly because they think your reading some sort of religious hate book rather than a comedy. I love Californication & I loved this book fingers crossed they release the other two novels featured on the show.
