4.0 out of 5 stars an original perspective of current events, 10 Jun 2002
This review is from: Goat: A Story of Kashmir and Notting Hill (Paperback)
If you would like to know more about northern India, how Hindus and Muslims live and do business together, and how families living in Kashmir have been faring over the past few years, then this is a good choice for you. As a bonus you will read about the pashmina fashion fad, and a little bit about the intricacies of import-export business. The book is well written, clear, interesting, and enjoyable, all of which more than compensate for a rather weak ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read, 16 Jun 2010
By
Mr. J. Crowson "Skipper" (Reading) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A very personal account by an author who has an intimate knowledge of Kashmir; woven into this is the story of the cost to wildlife and people of the making of pashmina shawls (the real ones, as opposed to those sold as pashmina by many stores), and the good use to which Justin Hardy puts the profit from the sale of these to the 'ladies who lunch'. All her books throw a light on the fascinating subject of Kashmir and India. Sheila Crowson
