The design is good.

Two simple halves clamp round the rollbar, you tighten two nuts which compress the ends of the two halves together.

The problem with it is it's made of plastic, so you can't get a decent, solid clamp on anything. Tighten up the nuts too far and the clamp would probably snap, it certainly bends.

The inside of the clamp is lined with rubber which means the clamp doesn't slide around, or move a lot, but as you cannot clamp it up very tightly the camera (and any video you shoot) is subject to vibration.

As a result, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone wanting to use it for car / motorbike / pushbike use.

Does what it's meant to do without issue. I used this to attached my Hero3 to my Caterham roll bar for track days. Goes on quick enough and once attached certainly wouldn't go anywhere. As other have noted the construction is primarily plastic which, whilst not an issue for the majority of uses doesn't leave me 100% reassured. Over-tightening or hitting something on track could cause a potentially dangerous failure. I've no doubt that this is probably the best GoPro roll bar mount out there, however it only gets 4 stars from me as the icing on the cake would have been for it to be made from aluminium or similar metal.

I use this to mount my GoPro on a Laser boom - works well, but I recommend you add a retaining string to your camera in case it pops out of the mount on the gybe!

It does what it's intended to. However - and this is in th context of the price - it's flimsy and easy to break. I do think on a stiffly spring racing car it's a matter of time before this gives.

That said the Amazon price was the cheapest I found on the web by far so no issues with that part!

I read some of the reviews on here which said the mount wasn't very strong. The mount, in my opinion, is fine for the job of attaching to a bar and doesn't move. It has a grippy lining on the mount to make sure it doesn't spin round so you don't need to tighten the mount too much. I think some users who have broken the mount may have over tightened it, worried that it would spin round. My only complaint is that it's a bit pricey for a piece of moulded plastic just because it's made by GoPro.

Ok, it works and does what it says it can buuuuuuut..... I have read reviews about these breaking/snapping easy, and looking at its plastic frame I can understand how this might happen!? I feel it may be only a matter of time before it fractures, been using it for mountain biking (fatter frame) and windsurfing attachment onto mast and boom. Works well however. I just wish that there were quick release options!?!?!

It seems a good bit of kit but motor sport competitors need to know that the plastic material may now be contrary to the Motor Sports Association regs. There's much talk about it on motor sport forums. I will now have to go looking for an aluminium mount to be on the safe side, so I wasted money on this sadly.

I use this to mount a GoPro 2 on the roll cage of my track car - works fine! Important not to over tighten as you could break it, but it doesn't need to be anyway.

It's easy to fit and I get very little camera shake, so very pleased.
