Product Description

From Amazon.com

Outside of Michael W. Smith's masterpiece, Live the Life, only 1990's Go West Young Man has brought him his deserved commercial success. "Place in This World" was one of the year's top recordings and reached No. 5 on the pop charts, yielding Smitty's first crossover hit. More importantly, it was one of the few contemporary Christian music songs to reach such heights in the secular market. Smitty shows signs of diversity with the gospel-tinged "How Long Will Be Too Long" and the beautiful balladry in "Cross My Heart." "Seed to Sow" showcases an anthemic hook that's hard to ignore. Throughout the release, Smith enhances his signature keyboard sound with horns, choral groups, and hot guitar licks. Once again, he sets the standard for others to follow. --Michael Lyttle

Micheal W. Smith is known to most Christian's who keep an eye on the Christian music scene. He has been singing on radios, in churches and halls (big, small, and huge!) for longer than I can remember. He more recent album, "This is Your Time" used the title song to exprese his feelings and challenge the listener on the the Columbine High Schood tragedy. "Go West Young Man" contains some of his best loved songs, such as "I'll be there for you" and "Place In This World". Other songs are co-writen with Amy Grant. And "Seed to Sow" uses the voices of The African Childrens Choir. This whole album will bless you and make you think. The songs aren't only good to listen to, they're inspired. Go on, enjoy.

Fantastic!!! 5 Feb 2005

This is one gifted guy. He's a great songwriter and singer and he has a passion for what he does and Who he sings about (God) that really comes across in the music. The lyrics are honest, un-pretentious and real. The fantastic thing about this album is that the songs still sound fresh and relevant today...unlike many albums recorded at that time. A collection of classic Christian songs.

A melodic Christian pop album 23 Dec 1999
By Dr. Marc Axelrod - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I honestly haven't read what others have written about this CD yet. But I'd have to say that this is definitely Michael W Smith's best album. I have his greatest hits, but I don't feel that the songs for that CD were especially well selected. This album reveals all of Smith's talents; his ability to create contemporary pop with a message ("Place in This World," "Seed to Sow," "For You"); his ability to make stirring pop gospel ("How Long Will Be Too Long," "Agnus Dei") and his ability to extend his musical reach into hip hop (the sometimes silly "Love Crusade"). Wait on the greatest hits album and buy this first.

A great record, even for a non-christian. 9 Nov 2004

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about Michael Smith when I first heard of him. I'm not really into "God-Rock", but this artist doesn't get weighed down by any titles. "Place in This World" is one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard."For You" isn't far behind... All I can say, is give it a try...you just might get blown away!

I grew up with this, and I LOVE it!!! 12 Aug 2004
By Andrew Mantle - Published on Amazon.com

First of all, this album is obviously an early 90s album, that however doesn't make it bad, just remember where music was coming out of the 80s with a love of all things synthesized, and enjoy the album for what it is. And what it is, is an amazing group of great pop tunes, some of these songs are my favorites by michael, "for you" unbelievable and so much fun, a great album you won't be dissapointed
