This good is a great guide and I thoroughly enjoyed it start to finish. Every idea/strategy in the book is backed up by logical thinking & relevant examples which is a complete contrast to the vast majority of these type of books.
The author has a way with words and shares some amusing stories all of which contain a key message.

I 100% recommend this to any one who is reading anything around business & entrepreneurship.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will make you go and do it! 29 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a very practical and readable book covering key aspects of starting up a business which I would recommend strongly to anyone with half a thought on setting up their own enterprise.

After an initial chapter in which Jeremy Harbour outlines very briefly to date his own life of entrepreneurship, Chapters 2-3 deal with weighing up future success and failure and associated risks of both starting a prospective business versus continuing life as before. The author then focuses on both overcoming the worst excuses that prevent people from starting up and also taking responsibility for the future success of the business (Chapters 4 and 6). I thought Chapter 5 to be particularly useful in its consideration and comparison of, on the one hand, new inventions and, on the other hand, innovative products in established markets. Subsequent chapters (7-10)deal with finding your customers and planning, marketing, selling to and communicating with those customers. The concluding Chapter 11 sets out over a three-month period '... a series of time-based objectives so that you can begin to put into practice the planning you've started...'.

The author makes it very easy for readers to refer to specific points and learn key ideas and recommendations. Chapters 2 to 10 include very helpful end-of-section 'Lessons to be Gained from this Chapter' summaries. There is also a well constructed, detailed index, not always to be taken for granted nowadays, which can direct readers to specific points of interest for reference, before, during or after a main read of the whole text.

I am very impressed with the combined succinctness and readability of the text. Jeremy achieves in only limited space what other business writers can't do in much longer texts.

This is a really helpful book for the aspiring entrepreneur. Written in an easy to read 'down to earth' style, "Go Do!" dispels many of the myths and fears that stops people from 'having a go' and starting a business of their own. Drawing on his many years of entrepreneurial experience since his early days as an enterprising young lad,(with stories of our youthful entrepreneur recounted very humourously in the early Chapters), Jeremy Harbour shows the reader that you do not need a world changing invention or a large investment to make it in business, but rather to observe the environment around you, find the need and fill it by 'going and doing', hence the very apt title of the book. So many entrepreneurs fail because they either open a venture and 'hope the customers will arrive', over-complicate things or are constantly fearful. Jeremy Harbour shows his reader how overcome these pitfalls and identify propositions that could be successful and how to simply take advantage of what has been done successfully before. Most importantly, Jeremy shows that by just taking the first step and 'going and doing', life can become infinitely more rewarding than by just sitting on the sidelines and watching the Richard Bransons of this world have all the fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring Stuff 15 Mar 2013
Format:Paperback
An intriguing account of true entrepreneurial spirit, overcoming personal tragedy within the family, starting a business very young, getting cocky from early success, having a great fall, learning and moving on, developing all the time. A must read book for any aspiring or practicing business person.
