Gluedots work exceptionally well ... too well if you're careless when placing your photo onto the page. They stick very quickly and VERY strongly.
The best way that I found when mounting photos onto paper or card was to unroll the Gluedot strip so that 3 or 4 dots were visible. I then pressed the photo corner onto the dot and lifted it clear of the strip with the dot attached. IT WOULD BE VERY INADVISABLE TO TRY TO LIFT THE DOT WITH YOUR FINGERS SO AS TO POSITION IT - not unless you want to end up with very gunky fingers and hands.
When placing the photo into position on the page, be very, VERY careful as the dots will stick as soon as they touch and they then STRONGLY resist any attempt to move or lift whatever it is you're sticking down.
The only small niggle I had was that as the roll neared its end, the dots were less evenly spaced along the strip and often overlapped each other.
One final tip - I found it best to leave at least 30cm of used tape hang clear of the roll as you worked your way along it. This made it easier to keep the roll of dots easily accesible in one hand whilst lifting, attaching and then sticking photos down with the other hand. I'd also suggest you practise a few times before embarking on your first major project.
I liked this product so much that I've just ordered two more rolls - surely that acts as a final endorsement of Gluedots' usefulness?
