Easy To Read and Understand Intro to Healthy Eating, 4 Sep 2009
By Zenda - Published on Amazon.com
I wasn't happy about the medical necessity of having to modify an already reasonably healthy diet. Found most presentations on the subject were tedious and so restrictive I was left with foods I didn't like or, due to allergies, couldn't have.
I was miserable and thought I'd probably starve to death before I was able to coordinate all this info, apply it to my own daily meals, and actually understand the 'why' of everything. This is not to mention the helpless, frustration of wandering around the grocery store trying to find products I had to get but didn't have any enthusiasm for. I wasn't interested in getting a degree in nutrition!
THEN my daughter-in-law showed me this book! I started skimming through it to be polite and found that I'd read the whole thing in no time and, finally, had a much better beginner's understanding of the whys and hows of the effects of food on overall health. I bought my own copy to have on hand and find including the right food on a daily basis couldn't be easier. Gave me a better base for tackling some of the more complicated, dry books on the subject, if, and when, I need or choose to do that.
Love this book for it's simple presentation of basic nutritional info and for lifting me out of 'food limbo'.

I found following the glycemic program has enabled me to still enjoy the foods I love and to actually feel very healthy at the same time. It has affected my moods, my cravings, and relationship with food and my emotions. Thank you for this book - I believe the low glycemic program should be under consideration to replace the food pyramid!
