Book Description

1 Sep 2012 Miscellany (History Press)
No city in England can match Gloucester’s passion for the game of rugby. The streets are festooned in cherry and white on match days and that famous cry of ‘Glaw . . . sterrr’ can be heard far beyond the club’s Kingsholm ground. This book illustrates what makes Gloucester Rugby Club so special. It features revealing and humorous interviews with some of the greats (including, to name but a few, Mike Teague, Andy Deacon and Ian Smith), historical facts, trivia, stats and stories, told by those who pulled on that famous shirt. It recalls the great matches, the cup wins, the highs, and also some of the lows. This is a book that shows what it means to play for Gloucester, a club steeped in tradition, pride and sporting excellence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beer, Bath and Bloodshed !! 22 Oct 2012
Much more than a book of stats, this book details some of the weird twists and turns that have lead to us having the team that we all know and love today. There's plenty of interviews with the Greats giving both their views on their playing days and the current team. Revealing and funny in equal measures !! Lots of trivia and reports on the many highs and Lows of our team and the great pride those players had in pulling on the famous cherry and white shirt. A book you'll want to keep coming back to and a must for all Glaws fans, drop hints to loved ones for crimbo or treat yourself, Come on Glawwsssssssssssssss !!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, what great Glaws read! 25 Sep 2012
A fantastic little book. I thought this book would be great to dip in and out of, how wrong was I! I haven't been able to put it down. Full of great stories from past players and club facts, i.e. top try scorers, did you know?, Where are they now? and loads more Glaws facts, gives you a real insight to the clubs history. This is a must for any Glaws fan, make sure this is on your Christmas list, that's if you can resist buying it before!

I enjoyed this book , but found the fact that it was simply a collection of random anecdotes rather disappointing.

A great book for true Gloucester fans! The best thing about this book is the interviews with real club legends, probably long forgotten outside Gloucester.
