Product Description

The landmark quilting book from a modern-day quilting legend.

For more than two decades, Kaffe Fassett’s sumptuously textured, vibrantly colored designs have thrilled readers and inspired them to pile on color and break the rules. In Glorious Patchwork—one of his most spectacular and original books—Kaffe presents more than 25 designs that draw on the essence of his colorwork. Divided into five color themes—ranging from soft pastels and leafy gardens to bold circus hues—these stunning designs bear Kaffe’s unmistakable stamp. Every chapter includes projects with varying difficulty, so beginners and experienced quilters alike can replicate the masterpiece quilts inside.

I bought this book when it first came out and loved the sophisticated use of color and line and the pure joy these quilts impart. I didn't sit down and make a quilt from the book right away, but did pull it out for inspiration from time to time. But it really was invaluable when I wanted to make a quilt for a sweet little girl, and again when I needed a simple and quick pattern for a quilt for my going-off-to-college daughter that would still have a strong sense of color and design.

The quilts in this book are so adaptable to an individual's own style and sense of color, that you'll find yourself using it again and again as a starting point for your own quilts.

I think some reviewers have rather missed the point. There are plenty of books out there telling you how to make traditional quilts by traditional methods. This book is by an artist who uses fabrics as a creative medium to explore colour and form. So many of us are inhibited when it comes to using colour, but Kaffe shows how to lose that timidity, put things together and make them glow. Looking through this book is like enjoying a feast!

I, for one, am glad the Mr. Fassett had the sense to hook up with Ms Lucy to produce this fabulous book. Though not a quilter himself, his application of color sense and design sings! And the clear instructions make it possible for anyone to make any of these quilts- or variations. Now, if I could only shop with them when they are working on their ideas-that would truly be a treat. I love this book- never tire of browsing, and learning about how to use colors and shapes differently than one sees in any other quilt books.

Attractive but not original
I adore Fassett's needlepoint and knitting book and like many of his fans couldn't wait to see what he what he do with with a quilt. Saddly, the answer seems to be nothing much. Read more

These are not your grandmother's scrap quilts.
While to some this might appear to be a basic how to quilting book, in reality it is a primer on the application of a sophisticated palette to the scrap quilt. Read more
