What makes Kaffe Fassett's books so inspiring is his use of colour, his 'go for it!' attitude and his passion for knitting. Although this is a little dated from the style point of view - lots of 80s shapes - it is still a worthy addition to any knitter's library.

The patterns are easy to follow - he doesn't go in for complicated intarsia, virtually all designs are only two colours a row although they may look way more difficult, and there is a lot of 'nuts and bolts' information for inexperienced knitters. As long as you can cast on, do stocking stitch, and cast off then you'll be able to complete these patterns. The charts are excellent - good for using in other (more modern!) shaped designs and this is why I think his book is still relevant today. His designs, whether delicious poppies in twenty colours, or zig zag stripes, or huge damask flowers, have not dated - buy this book along with Ann Budd's 'A Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns' (or use your own favourite basic shape patterns) and create something unique and wonderful!

Kaffe inspired 19 April 2008
Format:Paperback
I am not a huge fan of Kaffe Fassett knitting patterns but all his books are so beautiful to look at and inspiring that they are more than worth their cost. Even though I am not a big fan of Kaffe I still generally like at least one pattern from each of his books.

THis has the most amzing photography one expects from Kaffe and was the book that kicked off his career so is a must have for any Kaffe fan and anyone looking to design their own knitwear or any clothing. Fans of colourwork should buy this inspirational book

mouthwatering 28 Feb 2010

I've drooled over Kaffe Fassett's work since I first came across it years ago, so I finally treated myself to a copy of this book. His use of colour is mouthwatering, and whilst I may never knit anything out of it, it inspires me to be more adventurous with my own knitting.
Well worth the small outlay.
