5.0 out of 5 stars Even if you don't dance, you must own this CD, 15 May 2001
By A Customer
Darren Emerson, erstwhile Underworld member and perhaps the main reason why that band turned from geeky electro pop to one of the most influential British electronic acts of the 90s overnight, delivers his first official mix album with the almighty groove of his club sets in Uruguay... I mourned his departure from Underworld to focus on his DJing, but having heard these two discs, and heard them and heard them, I mourn no more!

He's not simply there to do put together a list of the latest chart tunes, this is a serious compilation, and almost unbearably cool. It covers all the bases with a sublime skill which perhaps only becomes apparent several listens in.

I am not a fanatical clubber, I just know what music I like, and this is it. This is one of the best examples of its type I have yet heard. Anyone with even a passing interest in dance music should be well turned onto the GU phenomenon, and should get this album. To make things even better I heard that the next Global Underground album will be Emerson's return, "Singapore". If it's half as good as this, I cannot wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars a nasty and funky one for those who like to groove!!, 4 April 2001
By A Customer
This is probably one of the best dance compilations I ever heard! Darren Emerson has choosen and mixed a wide variety of tracks without sounding chaotic. The build-up of the songs on both CD's is great! They start out with funky house and end with banging techno. And the best part for me is that some of my old time favorites are on this exquisit compilation, for instance The Orb, Lil' Louis and Speedy J. I also really like Bert Dunk's "Groove Y'all" on CD 1 and Pascal Feos' "I can feel that" on CD 2. But apart from that, there are simply no bad tracks on this compilation. This one makes me dance in my livingroom everytime I play it and although I have owned this compilation for 9 months now, it's as fresh and groovy as the first time I heard it. Try to get the limited edition! It contains 2 CD-cases instead of 1 and the cool pictures in the booklet give you a good idea of what a beachparty in Uruguay looks like. Every partyanimal needs this CD!!!
