Rajesh Kumar clearly knows his subject matter inside-out, and with perseverance, this book may be extremely useful for anyone wishing to understand medical tourism a little more fully. I haven't read any other books offering the level of detail as this one, which makes it all the more of a shame that the editors did not really do this publication justice. A proof-reader would have been very beneficial, as there are quite a lot of typographical errors. Also, the book itself, or at least my copy, is not produced to the level that I would expect for the price, with low quality paper, which, combined with the typos make the book come across as being less of an authority than it really is.
Global Trends in Health and Medical Tourism is more of a publication for the Medical Tourism professional, rather than for someone who is simply considering treatment abroad. As such, it goes into a great deal of detail into the impact of tourism, both positive and negative, upon communities. Another one of the other various publications would be more suitable for the prospective medical tourist.
It is a good book, I just would have like to seen slightly more attention to detail in the actual publication, as all of the information you might hope for is here!
