OK, to be honest, this was a bit of a luxury purchase.
It is elegant and a nice way to sharpen knives. It looks great when brand new, but rapidly shifts from sparkling white to a shade of steel grey, which I guess is no surprise.
It comes with dire warnings about shattering the ceramic piece, which I gather that you can replace separately. So I've made sure that it has its own drawer space, and I keep it in its packaging. Hopefully this will keep it in one piece, although the fact that the kitchen floor is hard slate means that if I drop it, I'm likely to be in trouble.
If you don't have storage space to keep it safe, then I'd probably recommend that you buy a steel/diamond sharpener, rather than this.
As to sharpening, it certainly made a good go at my Anolon knives. So no complaints there.
But the real reason that I bought it is for my new replacement Global Sai knives that are due to arrive tomorrow. With this, I'm hoping to keep them in tip top condition.
