Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
You don't need to know that The Glitterati's debut album was recorded by Guns N'Roses producer Mike Clink to know this young Leeds quintet are aiming high--it's all spelt out in frontman Nic Denson's lyrics to "Back in Power", in huge neon letters: "I want a filmstar/ I'm on the guestlist/I want a sex life/I want a death wish!" he yelps, visions of guitar-shaped swimming pools crystallising in his mind's eye.

But while The Glitterati isn't quite as monolithically big-sounding as, say, Appetite For Destruction – naturally, in Axl's hands, token slowies "Don't Do Romance" and "Keep Me Up All Night" would be accompanied by a full orchestra – numbers like "First Floor" strain with a glossy, solo-strewn libido reminiscent of early Aerosmith in their sleazy enthusiasm for hard rock's more ludicrous trappings. If you're looking for Darkness-style tongue-in-cheek, you've come to the wrong place: Denson's yelp of "See you later/ Heartbreaker!" appears to be played entirely without irony. But that's not to say The Glitterati isn't enjoyable--it's just that they're serious about having fun, and if that involves Flying V guitars and a spot of back-combing, all the better --Louis Pattison

CD Description
This is the debut album from Leeds five-piece The Glitterati. Recorded in LA with Guns 'n' Roses producer Mike Clink, the album sees the band deliver the brand of rock 'n' roll that has seen them earn comparisons to Aerosmith, Guns 'n' Roses, and many other stadium rockers. The singles 'You Got Nothing On Me' and 'Back In Power' are also included.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Live, Good CD, 30 April 2005
By S. Guthrie "stoin86" - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I first saw these guys a year or so back when they were supporting the Wildhearts and the almighty Therapy? in Edinburgh. The venue was not full but these guys gave a great show while it filled up and got everyone who was lucky enough to see them going crazy. The album doesn't quite capture that ability to get everyone in the room going, but most will find it hard to avoid joining in with (especially compared with bands like Busted and Rooster). This is a solid debut and well worth owning if you like this sort of rock music.

Lets just hope that their next albums are even better and then Britain will once agoin be the home of rock. Incidentally if you like modern takes on punk check out Nerve (from Glasgow, also previous Therapy? supporters) and Hogg Boy.

As long as The Glitterati don't go the way of Sunna and split after just one album, the future looks bright for this band and they could have many great albums ahead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Buy You'll Make This Year, 11 Oct 2005
By A Customer
This is an excellent classic rock album with a slightly raw edge to it. The more you play it the more it grows on you!

The Glitterati are also excellent live, great stage presence and work the audience well.

Buy and watch the Glitterati, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing, simply amazing, 13 Jun 2005
this band is amazing, I've had the chance to see them twice when they were supporting Avril lavigne this year and they are mad on stage, The songs simple kick some serious rock ass. Their atmosphere and presence is hardcore and they put on an amazing show and their songs make you just wanna dance and jump around. They also make you feel quite sexy, especially First Floor. GO AND BUY THIS ALBUM, you will not be wasting your money.
