Product Description

Zellie Wells has a devastating crush on Avery Adams, the son of her mom’s high school sweetheart. At her sixteenth birthday party, held in the basement of her dad’s church, she finally finds the courage to talk to him. Turns out, the devastating crush is mutual.

As Avery takes her hand and leads her out onto the makeshift dance floor, Zellie is overwhelmed by her first vision of his death; shocking because not only are they both covered in his blood, but they’re old, like thirty-five, and she is pregnant.

Afraid to tell anyone about the vision, (she’d just be labeled a freaky black magic witch, right?) Zellie keeps the knowledge of Avery’s future to herself and tries to act like any other teenager in love. When they get caught on their way to a secret rendezvous by her mom and his dad, they are forbidden to see each other.

Convinced that their parents are freaking out unnecessarily, Avery and Zellie vow to be together no matter what. They continue their relationship in secret until Zellie learns that their parents are just trying to prevent her and Avery from suffering like they did. The visions are hereditary, they’re dangerous, and if they stay together the visions will come true.

Now Zellie must choose between severing all ties with Avery, like her mom did to prevent his father’s death, and finding a way to change Avery’s future.

I read a lot of the YA paranormal/fantasy style books and they can get a bit samey.

I really enjoyed the concept of this and the characters introduced but I did feel a bit like it was rushed towards the end and I didn't 100% grasp what had happened in one part until I re-read.

It is definitely worth a read and I think now the characters and the "powers" are fully introduced the next books in the series will really pick up

The concept of hereditary psychic powers isn't a new one, but an interesting one especially in combination with the support system. It is a fun read for YA and younger, however I would add a cautionary warning to parents, because the behaviour of the teenage couple gets rather risque. Sending out the message that unexperienced teens go from one chaste kiss to climbing out of windows and getting naked on a bench in public, may not be the most appropriate one for your child. Conceptually I found that point a bit bizarre, as it seemed totaly unlike the character we were introduced to. Some of the dialogue was fairly unrealistic and immature, especially the adults, but that may have been done so the younger readers can relate better. The plot involving the main characters mother was a difficult one to swallow, perhaps because the last half of the book seemed rushed and not thought out well enough. Saying that, the writer introduces a new interesting character in the last chapter to entice readers into reading the next installment.

An excellent story with great characters!! Zellie makes a very believable heroine, and her sidekick Claire is definitely my favorite character. This is a great read for anyone interested in young adult paranormal romance. I hope we will be hearing more about Zellie and Avery very soon!

Really fun read! 8 Nov 2010

Format:Paperback
Zellie has a really big crush on Avery, her mom's highschool sweetheart's son. She doesn't even think he knows she exists, but at her 16th birthday party she finds out the crush is very very mutual. But instead of being able to savor her first dance with the boy she is in love with, she is consumed by the vision of his death. What freaks her out almost as much as having a vision, is that in the vision they are both covered in blood, grown up, and she is pregnant.
She keeps it a secret from everyone not wanting to be labeled a freak, but such secrets cannot stay buried for long. And once Zellie's secret is out everyone's secrets start coming out, and they aren't all that good. Like how her mom had a similar vision when she was Zellie's age involving Avery's dad dying, and that's why they didn't stay together. They also have refused letting Zellie and Avery see each other anymore to prevent them from having the same heartache. With the help of her best friend Claire and her sister Melody, Zellie is hoping she can get her life put back together and get these visions figured out before her whole life and everyone in it that she loves is ripped from her.

This is a very refreshing story. It is a paranormal romance, but it doesn't have all the creatures that everyone is writing about right now. This is about Seers, which is what Zellie is, though she doesn't know is. Just as the title states, Zellie can "glimpse" the future, but doesn't know how to control it so she is having a hard time dealing with the visions she's been having. The characters were very likable and are easily related with. Claire is my favorite character, though sometimes she gave to much information without knowing if it is okay to say anything. But she is a cool best friend.

[I'll play parental advisor and warn that there is language and sexual situations in this story.]
