This little book covers all you need to know about Glastonbury's history, both factual and mythical, and does so in the most beautiful prose imaginable. Dion Fortune's use of English is sublime - I felt as if I was entering another world reading it. Her description of the road to Glastonbury was so evocative that I upped and drove there half way through it! I will read it again and again whenever I feel like transcending the daily grind.

Oh my, if you have a love of all things mythical and magical you just have to read this! It takes the reader on a fantastical journey to that place which we would all love to understand and with delicious prose and evocative descriptions this is a must for lovers of the most magical place on earth. I could not put this down and have read and re read over and over, sublime storytelling from this author and one to keep, that's for sure!

This is no ordinary take on Glastonbury and its mysteries; it's thankfully devoid of "New Age" fluff and whilst much of it is based on speculation, it's a fascinating account by a writer who is universally recognised by western occultists for her spiritual knowledge and whose insights I am grateful to have access to. If you are drawn to this book, delay no further...

I have been to Avalon and Challis Well many times over the years and it's always a wrench to have to come away. Dion Fortune's excellent book describes what it's like to live there, the feelings she has of the spiritual life shines through and reading it i can imagine myself back there again. She considers herself to be an Avalonion, which she is. I was born and live on the Isle of Wight but i know where my heart is. Avalon!
