Wow- whoever knew glass could do so many things! In this book we are told that glass can be elastic, re-used, appear like textured water, be hard, blown into different shapes, in the form of delicate threads or woven rods, and can even be self cleaning....and that's just the intro!

Many of us know a bit about glass, if only to say it is often see-through and normally fitted into windows but this book makes the reader think about all the different amazing possibilities for product design and craft work. It is a ‘coffee table book’ in that it stands out from many other books because of the ease of reading and looks perfect on a surface, somewhere readily available for the reader to thumb through it whenever inspiration be needed.

It is a joy to look through and pleasure to read. I consider this series (wood and plastic books by the same author) a sort of material encyclopaedia; some people may wish to read it from back to front in one sitting. I prefer to bring it out when I have a rough idea of what I need from a material and the answer almost jumps out the page at me.

It is a very reasonably priced book for all the information you will get, such as typical uses, surpliers, material properties, sources of further information etc. The photographs are phenomenal and the text ingeniously simple- you walk away having ‘accidentally’ learnt all kinds of new information about glass. I have really enjoyed the whole series and I’m sure you will too.
