This box set contains excellent samples of Philip Glass' works.
It has early works, excerpts of some of his operas, tracks for films and
other compositions spread along ten cds in beautiful, proper cd cases.
The sound, to my untrained ears, is excellent.
A very informative 190 pages booklet brings, to the happy owners of this box,
several essays about Philip Glass, texts from excerpts of of his operas
and a complete track listing. The booklet does have 190 pages as the only language is English,
unlike many "200 pages" booklets that, being written in four languages, have actually only 50 pages.
The box itself, besides being a beautiful, cleverly designed box, is
the strongest I've seen so far.
It is all good stuff and Nonesuch did make an excellent retrospective box set of the extraordinary Philip Glass.
If you like Philip Glass, then check the dvd "Glass- a portrait of Philip in 12 parts" as well. It is an excellent documentary
that would certainly add to this set of cds. Let me avoid misunderstandings, just in case: The documentary that I am suggesting would be an important addition
to the box set of cds. It would be a separate order.
