This is a far better debut album than anyone has a right to expect, showing off as it does Rose's developing songwriting skills in a well recorded and lively environment.
Rose Kemp has a lovely expressive voice which is shown to full effect over a balanced set of mostly self-penned songs which lean at times towards a jazz air, whilst maintaining their own stamp of individuality. The album is sensibly not overlong, 42 minutes is ample for the twelve cuts, and the overall effect leaves the listener wanting to hear it again, which when you get down to it is all you can ask for really.
Standout tracks, for me, are "Individual" and "His Music", but that isn't to denigrate the remainder. All in all, it's well worth the money and I for one shall be looking forward to Rose's future efforts.
A very good beginning and Rose is a credit to herself and to her parents, whose influence comes through in the maturity of this recording.
