More About the Author

Simon Scarrow's passion for writing began at an early age. After a childhood spent travelling the world he pursued his great love of history as a teacher, before becoming a full-time writer in 2005. Simon's Roman soldier heroes Cato and Macro first stormed the book shops in 2000, and Simon continues to create one new adult Roman novel each year. Simon has many other literary projects in hand including a young adult Roman series and THE SWORD AND THE SCIMITAR, an epic tale of the Siege of Malta in the sixteenth century. Simon Scarrow IS An Arena Winner 12 Mar 2013
By Gerard S. Lannigan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is actually a novel whose conclusion will be reached in the next in the Macro/Cato series and which actually began in an earlier volume. That aside the action sequences are hum-dingers and the story moves quickly. Scarrow has the historical setting correct and knows his history. This is a good example of historical fiction at its best.
