I finally gave in to my wife's "encouragement" to get a ski helmet but struggled to find something that was vaguely comfortable and didn't require a second mortgage. Giro helmets seemed to be the best overall fit (apparently I have an oval shaped head [don't we all!?] which matches the Giro template) but I balked at paying ~£100 upwards for something not much different from a bike helmet which costs a fraction of the price; anything that has 'ski' in the title seems to immediately attract a 200% mark up. However, I came across this Giro helmet at a reasonable (ish) price on Amazon and it's great! It comes with 3 thicknesses of foam lining strips (front and back - 6 in total) allowing you to tailor the fit somewhat. I bought the large size and it fits my 61cm head perfectly using the middle thickness strips. It has lots of vent holes, covered with mesh, to help keep you cool. The ear pads are detactable.
Overall very pleased with this...... as is the wife!
